These weather apps, what are they even doing? I look at my phone, it says ‘Partly Sunny.’ What does ‘partly sunny’ mean? Is the sun working part-time? Is it a metaphor for my life? And then you look out the window, it’s raining! It’s pouring! The sky is falling! My app says ‘20% chance of rain.’ Twenty percent! That’s like saying there’s a 20% chance I’ll win the lottery, but then I win the lottery, and they still claim it was only a 20% chance! It’s never ‘100% chance of anything.’ It’s always ‘partly cloudy, mostly sunny with a slight chance of meteors.’ I just want to know if I need an umbrella or not! Is that too much to ask? Or am I supposed to carry one just in case the ‘partly sunny’ decides to get ‘partly rainy’?
